Mr. Thomas A. George, Sr. (80 years) was born in Edayaranmula, Pathanamthitta District. He graduated from U C College with a B.Sc. degree (Physics) in 1959. He was the Secretary of the Student Christian Fellowship (SCF) at UCC and was a classmate of our Rt. Rev. Dr. Zacharias Mar Theophilus Suffragan Metropolitan (Mar Thoma Church) of blessed memory. He also received a B.Ed degree. Thomas, Sr. was a Principal of a Teacher's Training College and High School Physics and Mathematics teacher for over 40 years in India, Malaysia, Zambia, Nigeria, and the United States - mostly in mission schools.
After he retired from teaching, he went into car sales and real estate work for several years in the Atlanta, Georgia area. He left for his heavenly home on June 7, 2019 and was buried on June 15, 2019 in Cumming, Georgia. May his soul rest in peace.
He left his beloved wife of 53 years, Ammukutty (Mrs. Saramma George) and their only son Thomas A. George Jr. (Subash) and his wife Bissy Abraham and their two grandchildren, Michael and Sarah Ann. Let us remember them in our prayers, and may God the Almighty comfort them and keep them under His wings.
Dr. David Jayakar Daniel (78) died on Monday, April 30, 2018 while visiting family in New Jersey, USA. He was a lecturer in the Mathematics Dept. at U C College in the 60's, and was a warden at the Holland Hostel. He was known as DJD Sir. He was the Senior Officer of NCC (National Cadet Corps) at UCC.
He was originally from Calicut. He got his B.Sc. degree from Malabar Christian College, and M.Sc. from St. Joseph's College, Calicut. Then he joined U C College, and was at UCC for several years. Then he came to Canada for higher studies, and joined Queen's University, Kingston, Ontario, Canada. He did another master's and his Ph.D. there. Then he worked as a Professor of Mathematics at Vanier College, Montreal, Quebec, Canada until his retirement.
He was married to Mrs. Jamuna Aaron-Daniel, and they have two children, Jyothish and Rekha. They are married and are living in New Jersey with their families. DJD Sir and Jamuna have been living in Brampton, Ontario, Canada since they left Montreal, Canada.
DJD Sir put this mail on Facebook last year. "Jamuna and I just returned from a fabulous vacation in Mexico, a surprise gift from our son Jyothish and his wife Sindhu as well as from our daughter Rekha and her husband Peter, to celebrate our 50th Wedding anniversary. Sindhu, true to her Law Background and as a partner of a prominent Law Firm planned and organized this for all the three families in a superb manner with class. All the 12 members of the Daniel Kimani families had fantastic, enjoyable time in the Resort with its beautiful Beach and Pools. Thank you Sindhu, Jyothish, Rekha and Peter". How sweet and thoughtful!
Surrounded by the love of his family, DJD Sir went to be with his Creator. Visitation will be held at the Brampton Funeral Home & Cemetery by Arbor Memorial- 10061 Chinguacousy Rd. (at Bovaird), Brampton, Ontario, Canada, (905) 460-9155. Viewings will be held on Friday, May 11, 2018 from 6:00 to 9:00 pm and Saturday, May 12, 2018 11:00 am to 1:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the funeral home Chapel on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. Burial will be held at Arbor Memorial. Celebration of DJD Sir's life to follow, location will be provided.

Dr. Phillip Abraham, one of the most accomplished and pioneer lay leaders, of the St. Gregorios Orthodox Church, Raleigh-Durham, passed away in the Lord, peacefully on April 27, 2018 after a long battle with illness. Phillip Uncle or Phillip Sir as he was fondly called by many was 83 and had been a highly active and dedicated founding member of the St. Gregorios Orthodox Parish and the larger Malayali and Indian Community in Raleigh, for many years. A member of the St. Gregorios Orthodox parish for over several decades, Dr. Phillip Abraham was a cornerstone of planning, building, and establishing the St. Gregorios parish.
Born June 17, 1935, in Kumarakom, Kottayam, Dr. Phillip Abraham got his Bachelors (B.Sc.) from Union Christian College, Alwaye, Masters (M.Sc.) from St. John's College, Agra and his Ph.D. in Biochemistry from North Carolina State University. A visionary, an avid reader of theological literature, Uncle has been in the United States of America since 1966. Dr. Phillip Abraham lived a life devoted to the Orthodox faith. He was the beloved husband of Mrs. Achamma (Ramani) Phillip. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Mr. Teebu Phillip and his wife, Mrs. Rachel.

Sodhari Kochamma, wife of our beloved Dr. A. M. Chacko sir ( former Principal and Manager of UCC) passed away on Friday, January 13, 2017 at Ahmadabad. Funeral was held on Monday, January 16th at Ahmadabad Mar Thoma Church. Let us continue to pray for Chacko sir, Prasad , Preetha and their families.
Mrs. Sosa Benjamin (Ammu -87 years), wife of former Principal late Prof. C.T. Benjamin passed away on October 11, 2010. She will be buried at U. C. College St. Peter's Mar Thoma Church on Oct.13th. She taught at Alwaye St. John the Baptist School, Alwaye Mahilalayam, etc. Their children are: Susan Mathew, IAS (Additional Chief Secrtary, Tamil Nadu Govt; Vice Chairperson, Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority), T.C. Benjamin, IAS (Additional Chief Secretary, Maharashtra Govt.), Dr. I.C. Benjamin (Urologist, Cochin) and Ben C. Benjamin (Business, Alwaye). Their spouses are: K.A. Mathew, IAS (Vice Chairman, Accod Group of Company, Chennai), Dr. Roshan (Poona), Dr. Anila (Cochin), and Seba (Alwaye).
V.T.Thomas (Victor), 74, passed away at Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida.
Thomas was born in Vavelikuzhyil (Kudathumannil) in Kuriannur, Kerala. He studied at U.C.College, Aluva and received MBA degree from Wharton College, Pennsylvania. He had a successful career as a CPA having worked as Controller of Sterling Winthrop pharmaceutical company in Athens, Greece before becoming a franchise owner of Jackson Hewitt, a national Tax Auditing company, in North Carolina. In November, 2009 Thomas retired and moved with his wife Marykutty to Fort Myers, Florida.
Besides wife Marykutty, Thomas is survived by son Joe, a physician in Nashville, Tennessee, daughter Jessey, a physician in Falls Church, Virginia and seven grand children, all in USA . He is also survived by a brother, V.T.Abraham (Malaysia) and sister, Mariamma Varghese (Kerala). Thomas was a very God-fearing, compassionate and jovial person, admired by his peers, family and friends. A memorial service was held in Fort Myers, Florida on June 26, 2010.
Regret to announce the demise of Dr. N. A. Abraham, an alumnus of UCC. Dr. N.A. Abraham passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2010, surrounded by his family at Princess Margaret Hospital, Toronto, Canada at the age of 82. He studied for his intermediate course at UCC and later on worked there as demonstrator in the Chemistry Department. He was working for the pharmaceutical company Ayers (and later on Wyeth)in Montreal as a senior scientist.
He is survived by his son Ernie who lives with his family in Toronto and a daughter Thanka who works in the US. He has a granddaughter Bianca. He is also survived by his sisters Mary Mathew, Annie Jacob, Alice George, extended family and friends. His wife Guilda passed away a decade ago .
Dr. Abraham was very active in the church and the Malayalee community in Montreal. He was a very thoughtful person and was well liked by every one around him.
Visitation and funeral service were held at Brampton Memorial Gardens, 10061 Chinguacousy Road. Brampton(at Boviard Drive West). Visitation was held from 5 p.m to 9 p.m on Friday June 25, 2010 and funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 26, 2010.
U. C. College English Professor Mrs. Susan Thomas (51) passed away on August 4, 2013 after a month's hospitalization. She will be buried at U. C. College St. Peter's Mar Thoma Church on August 6th, after prayer services at the College Chapel.
Dr. Joseph Varughese (60) passed away peacefully on December 31, 2009. After winning a courageous six-year battle with lymphoma, Dr. Varughese succumbed to complications of pneumonia. He was the beloved husband of Bina, his wife of thirty-four years, and loving father of Vivek and Tara. He attended U C College, Alwaye between 1964-1966, after which he attended medical college in Davengere, Karnataka. After post-graduate training in the U.K and Canada, he worked for 18 years as a well-respected internist at Kaiser Permanente Panorama City, Los Angeles Medical Center where he was loved by colleagues and patients. He was the son of M.P and Thankamma Varughese, Thamarasseril, Thiruvalla.
Prof. K.K. Abraham (67), former HOD of Malayalam passed away on December 7, 2013. Funeral prayer will starts at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 9, 2013 at his residence. Mortal remains will be brought to the College chapel at 1.45 p.m. Funeral will be held at St. Thomas Orthodox Church, near UC College, Aluva.
